White Amur

White Amur provide permanent algae and weed control. The Amur is a vegetarian fish which originated in Asia. It has a recommended stocking rate of 10 to 15 per acre. The Amur will control aquatic vegetation and will not harm species of fish. The average life span of the Amur is 8 years and this fish will not reproduce in a pond or lake. An Amur will eat four times his body weight in vegetation each day and can add 8 to 10 pounds to his body weight in six months. This fast growing fish is the biological alternative to costly chemical weed control in ponds and lakes.
